2019. “Ghost Stories”
Photographers residency with Bristol Archives and IC Visual Lab, Bristol
This project collected photographers to respond to objects from the British Empire and Commonwealth Collection which are held in seldom-visited archives in Bristol.
“In response to this colonial illustration, I aim to invert the dominance expressed by the central white figure in an illustration of a colonial expedition. By drawing on the parallel with a tree that is bursting through a paved floor, my photograph seeks to expose the superiority complexes that infiltrate and abuse man’s relation to its natural environment as well as man’s relation to other, improperly racialised, groups of people.”
