2022. Seed pots project
with artist in residence: Janneke Kornet at the Voorkamer, UtrechtIn this project two insights are connected. The first is that plants are dancers whose choreographies distinguish them from one another and from the chaos that is soil.
The other insight is that their dances influence their other life forms in their proximity. I created a pot and a poem with other participants. I inverted the typical pot with a narrow base to pay homage to the vital role of the soil in the sustenance of plant life.
Soil is our planet’s highest form of poetry. The soul of soil becomes material in the dances of plants. In my poem I foregrounded the plants my mother and grandmother grew in our home and that thereby made their impressions inside of me.
